Hi danny, rename file arenaATL to arenaGER and in NHLView change Arena type to NHL.
is it possible to replace for example Germany arena (arenaGER) with Winnipeg MTS Centre (arenaATL)???
if so, how? since Ive done it, the game crashes and wont stop loading???
I want to replace whatever international arena with MTS Centre and WHA arena to have 2 extra NHL rink size arena...
Anybody can help?
BTW speak slowly I always sucked at arena modding/replacing
This is exactly what I did and the game crashes... it keeps on loading !?!?!?!
You also need to install the NHL ice texture for the International ice and have a NHL ice model
Also the glass might be the reason for crashing.
One of the WHA GMs: "We had every idiot who ever played."
Did you run BHImport?
Venin Fruikin - Top Prospect C of BESL
Stay tuned for Fruikin's upcoming draft!
So what exactly I wanna do is: change my Winnipeg Arena art number #039 (Germany arena) and replace it with the MTS Centre. Also replace my fantasy Quebec and Seattle teams arena art number #114 and #115 (Czech arena) and replace it with the WHA arena.
as for the NHL ice texture/model, well I installed the icex.ebo that comes with the TH ices and another one I have that works with the international ices. For the boards and stuff I installed the glass model file named "Glass Update pt2". This is all I have. Like I said previously, I been around for a long time but when it comes to Arenas, I'm a noob!
I know you guys are pretty tired to giveaway links for people who don't wanna take the time to search the forums but this time it is not the case (or am I completely dumb!?)
what file are exactly the ice texture and ice model? all I know about these is the icex.ebo file. Is this the ice model? how do I replace the international ice model to a NHL one!? I got them installed along with TH ice pack and an old IIHF Project pack... so I don't know if I can overwrite any of those and how!?!?
The ideal would be to have all my international arenas switched to NHL size rink... and if possible some of Flux's work (like the old IIHF Project small arenas and some international arenas he made) compatible with NHL rink size...
Please please please help!
In NHL View You need to change the arena art to 1 or whatever team you want to use.
Also, change the arena type to NHL.
art #1 is in use for Phillips Arena (Atlanta) and I want to keep it that way. I wanted to use art #39 which is the Germany Arena and replace that arena with a NHL size arena (i.e. MTS Centre)... and do the same with the International Teams Arena art #34 and overwrite it with the WHA Arena. Since I've done it, it loads, loads, loads 'til the end of time
You explained it fine.
Arena art is not the arena file. The arena file is ArenaGER.big. The arena art is the number the ice is.
But the arena art does affect the arena choice... !?
for example in a game you haven't installed any arena mod, if you take the Ducks and you set their arena art to 39 and select NHL size rink they'll play in the Germany arena (arenaGER) on a NHL size rink with a gap in between the crowd and the boards ...not in the Honda Center !?!?!
same example applies to the Pond (or any Winter Classic Arena). All you gotta do is to set the art #127 to play in the outdoor rink...
My mistake. This is why I don't change anything unnecessary in the game.
oh well... thanks anyway!
I'll keep looking around if it's doable!!! Cheers!
but.... you need to have an NHL ice model in your International arena model.
you might want to make a backup of ....EA Sports\NHL 09\gamedata\inter.big ---(if you aren't using NHLModX)
Set the arena types in NHLView to "NHL"
use bigGUI to extract icex.ebo from ......EA Sports\NHL 09\gamedata\nhl.big
use bigGUI to import icex.ebo to ......EA Sports\NHL 09\gamedata\inter.big
you shouldn't have to run BHImport
Run it anyhow... (just for kicks and giggles.....)
if it doesn't work ( it should,,,) let me know what happened...
I'll try this right now... thanks! much appreciated!!!
as for NHLModX, i don't really understand what it is... I will surely give it a shot since it seems very interesting
Once again thanks, I'll test the icex.ebo switch and will get back at you with the results

shit shit shit!
loads loads and loads... it doesn't start!

I did exactly what you said... I imported icex.ebo from NHL.big to inter.big, compressed, rebuild
I took arenaATL.big (MTS Centre) and renamed it arenaGER.big. Overwrote the original file and ran BHimport....
Ok,, the instructions were to
"have all my international arenas switched to NHL size rink..."
not to switchout arenas. restore you inter.big to the original.
Your issue with the crash (endless load,, btw to kill it... alt-tab open task manager and kill the nhl2009.exe process)
it sounds like you have mismatching arena models for the arena you are using to replace.
have you ever used the MTS arena in the game?
lets' test something.
Try this. ,, take your arenaATL.big make a copy, then rename it arenaGER.big
put it in the gamedata folder
If this works then I'd say the arena (MTS) is the older arena model...
I did try the MTS Centre arena before, when used as arenaATL.... it worked fine!
it's the one made by snake... but since I changed it to arenaGER it doesn't work...
Well, i take your arenaATL.big file and rename to arenaGER.big. Then i copy this renamed file to my NHL09/gamedata folder and run BHimport. After that i open NHLView and for team Germany change Arena Type to NHL.
And it's works great:
Ice is not changed. By the way, do you have Tomahawk NHL and AHL glass update? - http://www.thebreakaway.net/forums/d...o=file&id=1571
I had the Glass update part 2... i dont know who is the author!?!?!
I will try with TH's and get back at you! Thanks for all the help!

I know exactly what was my mistake... if you look at my previous post I always mentioned Germany art #39... 39 is Finland arena...!?!?!
so I was try to play with the Finland arena with a NHL size rink and it made it crash...
I looked at your screenshot and it says art #41, then I realize that I am just a ****ing dummie!
Anyhow thanks to you all for your help it is much appreciated! If you need anything from me, please don't be shy to ask!
