Please note: This blog entry was written minutes after the Boston Bruins gave up a 3-0 series lead to the Philadelphia Flyers and a 3-0 lead in Game 7. There is more than likely going to be a lot of cursing, personal insults and many, many thoughts that have bypassed any time of filter planted in my brain.
Bruins fans, stop it. Please, just stop it. We all should have expected this. This isn't the first time that the Bruins have bent us over the bench and stuck their sticks into our black and gold rectums. It happened tow years ago in Montreal and it happened last year in Boston against Carolina. The downside to this year's Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, or as I've come to call it, Bruins Eastern Conference Semi-Blow The Series, is that they were up 3-0 on the Flyers, instead of having to battle to to a Game 7, had it in hand.
This series should've been over in Philadelphia. When the Hockey Gods shine down upon you and your player scores a game-tieing goal with mere seconds left in the third period, you're supposed to win that game. It was planned out for the Bruins; sweep Philly and rest while the Pens and Habs beat the shit out of each other.
But that didn't happen. Instead, Philly turned up the heat while the Bruins would coast (is there a level below coasting because that's what Boston did) through Game 5 and 6. Seriously, there was no emotion, there was no heart, there was nothing.
So here we are, a familiar Game 7 that the Bruins never should have been in to begin with. Last year they should have put the Hurricanes away and this year they should have put the Flyers way in 4.
As usual, though, it was the Bruins who ultimately did themselves in with poor play and stupid mistakes. My question is pretty simple to the team: HOW THE **** DO YOU COMMITT A "TOO MANY MEN ON THE ICE" PENALTY LATE IN THE THIRD PERIOD!?!?!
Holy ****ing shit, seriously? How many times have we watched the Bruins throughout the past 3 years committ the dreaded TMMOTI penalty? What the **** are they thinking?!
This seems to be the trend every year with the Bruins. They get the city all wrapped up in playoff hockey and throw the series away. So far, it has happened for the past 3 years.
So listen, Bruins fans, stop the whining and the complaining. Stop saying how "shocked" you are because we have all been there before. Those heartless jerkoffs who wear the black and gold every day deserve to feel the way that we feel, but we don't. Unlike them, we're the ones who are shelling out the money for tickets, we're the ones who wear the hats and the jerseys and the sweatshirts, we're the ones who live and die with every shot of a frozen piece of rubber.
We do not deserve this.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and thinking the outcome will be different. I'm sick of being insane for awhile, I think I'll put my Bruins gear in the closet for awhile.
